Global Mental Health Dissemination & Implementation Research Program

Overview

The Center for Global Mental Health Research recognizes the importance of building an evidence base to advance the field of global mental health. Implementation research remains critical for overcoming many global mental health challenges, especially in low-and middle-income country settings. Research is needed to translate evidence into practice and policy, as well as to develop models for scaling up evidence-based interventions to communities and clinical setting and disseminating information to stakeholders, the public, and policymakers. The Global Mental Health Dissemination & Implementation Research Program supports rigorous and relevant research and research training with the goal to optimize implementation science within the field of mental health and population science.

The program helps build collaborations in implementation science across NIH, HHS, as well as other Health Agencies and Organizations for global impact.

Areas of Emphasis

Areas of interest include, but are not limited to the following:

• Development of new tools to enhance integrative care, quality-of-care, and cost effectiveness
• Research designed to determine how best to scale up mental health interventions across diverse health systems, communities, and clinical settings
• Development of innovative methods, technologies, and strategies to address cultural adaptation for mental health interventions
• Development of innovative methods, technologies and multimedia approaches for information dissemination to diverse stakeholder groups and public health decision-makers to understand how best to bridge research to practice.
